Leadership position in the Building Department

Your responsibilities

• strategic building maintenance: You plan, coordinate, and supervise timely structural maintenance including preventive upkeep measures to preserve the substance of the properties.
• Finance and controlling: You prepare the annual maintenance and budget plans and ensure the economical use of public funds.
• Team leadership: You lead and promote the specialised staff under your supervision.
• Procurement: You are responsible for awarding maintenance services to external craftsmen and planners in compliance with public procurement regulations.
• Stakeholder management: You work closely with internal and external stakeholders, especially property management, users, and external partners.
• Project management/Client representation: You lead, if necessary, renovation, modernisation, and repair projects from tendering to completion and play a key role in organisational projects within the Building Department.

Your background

• You have successfully completed a technical or craft-based basic training and possess advanced professional training, e.g. as a certified technician in construction planning or as a certified construction manager.
• You bring several years of experience in project management in structural property maintenance, ideally with experience in a public administration environment and interdisciplinary collaboration.
• You have verifiable professional and personnel leadership experience and are characterised by a cooperative and goal-oriented leadership style.
• You have a strong understanding of public procurement and are digitally savvy.
• You are distinguished by a high cost and quality awareness, negotiation skills, as well as a structured and solution-oriented working method.

Building Department / Technical Building Management Division

Within the Construction and Environmental Protection Directorate, the Building Department with around 320 employees is committed to the care and development of buildings and land in the administrative and financial assets of the canton as well as the cantonal tenancies. The Building Department’s services are provided along the real estate lifecycle and interdisciplinarily across the divisions of portfolio management, project and construction management, technical building management, infrastructural building management, finance and services, as well as the specialist unit for contaminated sites and pollutants.
The employees of the Technical Building Management Division ensure that the canton’s buildings and technical systems/facilities are operated reliably, safely, and energy-efficiently. This includes planning, execution, and supervision of all structural, technical, and operational tasks – including maintenance, repair, and furnishing.
