About the job
The Swiss Cancer Institute is the national network for clinical cancer research in Switzerland. Since 1965, we have been committed as a non-profit organisation to improving cancer treatment for the Swiss population. According to our vision "Clinical research for a cure tomorrow," we conduct clinical studies in oncology and serve as the central contact point for authorities, professional associations, and the pharmaceutical industry. Around 70 employees work closely at the competence centre in Bern with all leading oncological clinics in the country.

Biostatistician / Statistical Programmer 80 - 100%
Your tasks:
- Ensuring sound statistical planning, analysis, reporting, and publication of clinical studies and associated research projects (e.g. translational research, quality of life, etc.) as well as real-world data projects, including statistical consulting
- Contributing input as well as discussing and further developing study proposals together with the principal investigators
- Specification and programming of quality checks, listings, and reports to ensure data quality and identify protocol deviations
- Review of relevant documents (e.g. study proposals, protocols, CRFs, statistical analysis plans, clinical study reports, publications, etc.)
- Development, validation, and maintenance of standard programmes and R packages (e.g. for data preparation, quality control, figures, and tables) as well as programming support for the statistics team and other SCI competence centre staff upon request
- Collaboration with clinical data managers and other study team members to ensure high data quality
What you bring:
- Master's degree / diploma or doctorate in statistics or a related field
- Very good knowledge of R
- Experience as a biostatistician or statistical programmer in clinical studies and experience in developing R packages on GitHub is an advantage
- Knowledge of statistical methods such as survival analysis, linear, logistic and Cox regression, as well as mixed models
- Strong problem-solving skills, team-oriented and proactive working style
- Excellent oral and written communication skills in English
- Good communication skills in German
