What you will do with us

The Public Safety Department is in touch with the population and ensures safety, peaceful coexistence, and that everything in everyday city life is conducted properly. The police inspectorate under its authority is responsible for the execution of municipal as well as some police tasks delegated by the canton (commercial police).

With us, you will review applications, issue permits, conduct inspections, and intervene when necessary. You will independently handle demanding cases and write statements, reports, and complaints. You will work in a team of professionals and operate in various sectors such as gastronomy, taxi services, sex industry, etc.

• Do you present yourself confidently and assertively, remain calm even in demanding situations, and always act solution-oriented?
• Do you enjoy approaching a wide variety of people and can conduct conversations and clarify matters even in challenging situations?
• Are you versatile, flexible, and willing to occasionally work outside regular office hours?
• Are you able to manage a sometimes high workload depending on the department's needs and regularly take on assignments on site?

What you ideally bring with you

• Federal VET Diploma with function-specific further training; police training or experience in the security sector is an advantage
• Extensive professional experience and interest in public safety
• Impeccable reputation, no entries in the criminal record or debt enforcement register
• Excellent German or French with good knowledge of the other language
• Good skills in handling IT tools and databases
• Fluency in writing reports and analyses as well as handling complaints
