Do you want to help shape a versatile infrastructure as a System Engineer and not limit yourself to a single technology area? For an established, nationwide Swiss trading and logistics company in the Bern area, we are looking for an experienced person in the field of System Engineering with a focus on the Microsoft and Windows environment. In this role, you combine engineering and operations, continuously develop the system landscape, and together with the team ensure stable, secure, and high-performance IT services. You can expect a broad range of tasks with a lot of personal responsibility and direct influence on a business-critical, nationwide networked IT infrastructure.

Your Challenge

In this versatile generalist role, you design, implement, and operate Windows-based platforms and develop them throughout the entire lifecycle. Together with the engineering team, you ensure stable and secure operations and take responsibility for monitoring and alerting, incident and problem management, patch and release management, as well as capacity, performance, and availability. You drive standardisation, automation, and security hardening, analyse disruptions sustainably, and implement lasting improvements. In company-wide projects, you act as a technical specialist or lead, advise internal teams on infrastructure, architecture, security, and operating models, and ensure transparency with up-to-date system, architecture, and operational documentation.

Your Qualities and Talents

• Completed education and training in computer science (EFZ/HF/FH) or comparable qualification
• Several years of experience in system engineering
• Sound knowledge in the Microsoft and Windows environment, especially Windows Server & clients, Microsoft 365, Azure, as well as Active Directory / Entra ID
• Experience with virtualisation, ideally VMware, as well as backup/restore solutions
• Good knowledge of network and security topics
• Experience with monitoring, patch, and lifecycle management
• Knowledge in automation and scripting, especially PowerShell
• Broad technical understanding and enjoyment of a versatile generalist role
• Independent, structured, and solution-oriented working style as well as a strong team and service mindset
• Business fluent German skills
