About the job
About us
IWS Industrielle Wägesysteme AG is a growing, market-oriented SME specialising in industrial scales, special scales as well as weighing and control systems including customised software solutions. We serve customers domestically and abroad and provide the complete package from a single source – with short communication paths, flat hierarchies and a strong team spirit.
We are looking for
A person with common sense and a hands-on mentality who does not shy away from responsibility: a creative mind with improvisation skills and enthusiasm for technical and manual challenges.
Your area of responsibility
- Collaboration and coordination within the service technician team
- Preparation of scales in our workshop according to technical specifications – including pre-configuration of terminals
- Installation and commissioning at the customer’s site – e.g. installation of load cells, connection of terminals and modules as well as wiring of relay boxes
- Repair and maintenance work on the scales
- Preparatory maintenance and support during the calibration of the scales
- Troubleshooting – on site or by phone
- Customer care and advice – you are a reliable contact person for your customers, ensure their satisfaction and provide a brief application training during handover if necessary
- Creating and maintaining documentation, work reports, delivery notes as well as test and conformity certificates
What you need to bring
- Completed technical training in mechanics, electrical engineering or automation (e.g. polymechanic, automotive mechanic, mechatronics technician, automation technician or electrician with federal certificate) or equivalent qualification
- Manual dexterity in assembling and wiring various components and devices
- Confident use of PC and common software (e.g. for documentation and reports)
- Driving licence category B (mandatory, for field service)
- Residence in Switzerland; travel activity is mainly within Switzerland, foreign assignments are rare
- Fluent and business-level German; English for communication
- Precise, careful and structured working style with personal responsibility and team spirit
- Enjoyment of direct customer contact: Whether during maintenance, service or on-site advice – you present yourself in a friendly, positive and service-oriented manner and remain calm in stressful situations as the face of IWS to the customer
- Willingness to perform physical work and enjoyment of changing locations
What makes you the ideal candidate
- Experience in machine, plant or industrial scale construction
- First experience with measurement or weighing technology
- Basic CAD knowledge
- Electrical knowledge: reading circuit and electrical diagrams, electrical engineering and control technology (PLC)
- Basic knowledge of French
Not yet a scale expert? Don’t worry – you will learn the specialised knowledge about our scales with us in practice. You will be accompanied by experienced colleagues, learn from them and gradually take on your own assignments. Commitment and the willingness to learn are decisive.
Why IWS
You work in a small, well-coordinated service team – currently two technicians in field service – within an SME of about ten people, with a lot of independence. Your assignments are varied – from the workshop to commissioning to customer advice, across a wide range of industries.
- Trial day instead of gut feeling: Mutuality matters to us. Apply and spend a trial day with our team – experience for yourself what your future working day will look like.
- Behind the scenes: We work with renowned large corporations – from food to industry to energy. On your assignments, you will visit places rarely seen otherwise.
- Think boldly: We appreciate it when you question things and suggest new ways. We work cooperatively, innovatively, independently and ambitiously.
- Company vehicle: During training, you will be out with the team – as soon as you are independently on assignment, a company vehicle will be available to you.
