The employees of the Funeral Office of the city of Schaffhausen support those affected during this difficult time with empathy, professionalism and organisational skill.
We take on all tasks related to funeral services - from the transfer and hygienic care of the deceased to official notifications and the organisation and accompaniment of funeral services and burials in our municipal cemeteries. In addition, we offer citizens the opportunity to record their personal final wishes in a precautionary directive.
We are looking for an immediately available or by arrangement committed individual who will complement our team professionally and enrich it personally.

Employee in the Funeral Office
In this exciting job- you advise relatives in cases of death with sensitivity, competence and respect.
- you coordinate funerals, burials and memorial services at the municipal cemeteries.
- you organise and accompany transfers of the deceased within Switzerland and abroad.
- you participate in the on-call service and ensure reliable care outside regular working hours.
- you carry out the hygienic care of the deceased.
- you work in the crematorium and perform the associated practical and organisational tasks carefully and responsibly.
- you ensure a dignified and professional handling of the deceased.
- you work closely with various authorities, churches, hospitals, funeral companies and other service providers.
- you conduct precautionary discussions and manage the corresponding precautionary directives.
- you take on administrative tasks such as death notifications, scheduling, correspondence and documentation.
- you ensure a dignified, professional and smooth process of funerals and burials.
You will be successful here
- with a completed vocational training and ideally professional experience in the public sector, social, health or funeral services.
- thanks to your strong social skills and your ability to accompany people with sensitivity and respect even in emotionally stressful situations.
- through your structured, independent and reliable way of working - even in hectic situations.
- because you are confident in the digital working environment and proficient with MS Office as well as specialised software.
- with your willingness to take on weekend and on-call duties on a rota basis.
- thanks to your category B driving licence.
- because you have the necessary physical and psychological requirements for the varied tasks.
- through your high discretion, resilience and sense of responsibility.
- with your willingness to familiarise yourself with the specific tasks and processes of the Funeral Office and to continuously develop yourself.
- through your ability to work in a team.
