Role:

You are the first point of contact when it comes to storage and backup infrastructure behind business-critical systems. As a Senior SAN, NAS & Object Storage Engineer, you decide how data is stored, replicated, and recovered in emergencies. The basis for this is Pure Storage, NetApp, and other enterprise technologies. Your architectural expertise counts just as much as your instinct for stable solutions in operation. Those seeking responsibility for high availability will find genuine scope for design here.

Responsibilities:

• You are responsible for highly available SAN, NAS, and object storage environments and design the data paths for VMware, KVM, and other virtualisation platforms.

• You test new storage, backup, and data centre technologies in your own proof of concepts and derive binding architectural specifications from them.

• Furthermore, you define recovery architectures with immutable backups, WORM, and air-gap. This reliably fulfils the RPO and RTO requirements (Recovery Point and Recovery Time Objective).

• You design storage services for NFS, S3, NDMP, and SnapLock and plan appropriate snapshot and replication strategies.

• In case of disruptions, you technically lead critical incidents, analyse system, protocol, and performance levels, and find the actual cause.

• Additionally, you plan storage and data centre migrations as well as lifecycle projects and develop concepts for capacity, monitoring, and alerting.

Qualifications:

• You have many years of practical experience in engineering storage, backup, or infrastructure solutions.

• You know enterprise storage inside out, especially Pure Storage and/or NetApp.

• You are equally proficient with volumes, LUNs, storage pools, and filesystems as well as multipathing and redundant SAN connections, also in conjunction with VMware or KVM.

• In addition, you have solid know-how in disaster recovery, retention, and cyber recovery as well as experience with tape libraries for long-term archiving.

• You understand the dependencies between storage, network, server, and virtualisation and evaluate architectures based on availability, scalability, and security.

• Moreover, you communicate fluently in German and work effortlessly with English-language technical literature.
