About the job
More than HR: You help shape the psychiatry of tomorrow.
The University Psychiatric Clinics Basel offer a stimulating environment where people are committed to others, make a difference, and can develop themselves. We place great value on close interprofessional collaboration and maintain a respectful and open culture. This includes attractive employment conditions with suitable working models and progressive social benefits.
The Human Resources (HR) department at UPK is responsible for recruiting staff, customer-oriented and professional support of employees and management representatives, needs-based training offers, and the training sector. Our claim: HR that noticeably relieves pressure in everyday work and enables the transformation of UPK.
Employees need an HR leadership that knows their work reality, listens, and addresses their concerns. For the University Psychiatric Clinics Basel, we are looking for a personality who sees the people behind a personnel issue.
Head of Human Resources and Member of the Executive Board (80-100%)
Your Tasks
- As a member of the executive board, reporting directly to the CEO, you shape the strategic development of UPK – with your own voice and shared responsibility
- You make the transition to more outpatient and local services possible in terms of personnel: with forward-looking competence planning, new working models, and real prospects for employees in changed roles
- You shape a leadership culture in which people are seen and take responsibility, and you strengthen management representatives to lead clearly and address difficulties early
- You position UPK as an employer that professionals consciously choose and make HR simple, digital, and approachable
- You lead an experienced HR team, are present in the clinics, and also get involved in difficult personnel situations. You work in a trusting manner with staff representation and social partners
Your Competences
- You bring several years of HR leadership experience at management level and higher education; experience in healthcare is a plus
- You are hands-on, think entrepreneurially, and have successfully implemented changes. In doing so, you take concerns seriously, build trust, and win employees over to new paths
- You approach people openly and appreciatively. People trust you because you listen, are present, and keep your word
- You are well versed in Swiss labour law and act pragmatically: you use leeway instead of hiding behind rules
- In the executive board, you are an independent voice: you disagree constructively, offer alternatives, and support joint decisions bindingly
Your Prospects with Us
- An executive board role with real scope for shaping – at a time when psychiatric care is fundamentally changing
- Short decision-making paths, room for new approaches, and an executive board that discusses openly and decides jointly
- Contemporary employment conditions, home office, diverse further training, sports offerings, and a green park area – more at https://karriere.upk.ch/ihr-vorteil.html
The permanent position is to be filled from 1 April 2027 or by agreement.
