About the job
About ICS
At the Inter-Community School Zurich (ICS), we are more than a school – we are a community where everyone feels welcome.
For over six and a half decades, ICS has been proud to provide first-class education as Switzerland’s oldest international school and a leading IB World School.
Located just 10 km from Zurich’s old town, in the scenic village of Zumikon, we are surrounded by nature while being close to the heart of the city.
We believe in creating an environment where both students and staff can thrive, grow, and achieve their full potential.
We are seeking an experienced, strategic and people-oriented Director of Admissions to lead our Admissions function across the whole school, from Nursery to Grade 12.
Leading a team of two Admissions Officers, you will oversee the admissions journey from the first enquiry to enrolment and the successful transition of new families into the ICS community. You will ensure that admissions strategies, processes and systems support the School’s enrolment objectives and provide a positive experience for prospective families.
Reporting directly to the Head of School, you will work closely with the School Leadership Team, academic departments and the Director of Marketing & Communications, using admissions data and market insights to inform planning and support the School’s long-term development.
What you will do
- Lead re-enrolment and retention initiatives, using enrolment trends and withdrawal patterns to identify opportunities to strengthen family engagement and student retention.
- Analyse admissions performance, conversion rates and market trends, providing enrolment forecasts, regular reports and recommendations to support School planning.
- Set objectives and priorities for the Admissions team, coordinate workloads and support professional development, maintaining efficient operations and consistent service standards.
- Plan and coordinate school tours, Open Days and admissions events, giving prospective families opportunities to experience the ICS community.
- Build strong relationships with current families, relocation agencies, corporate contacts and other external partners to support student recruitment and retention.
- Oversee OpenApply and admissions data management, maintaining accurate records and reliable reporting while ensuring confidentiality and compliance with data protection requirements.
- Review and improve admissions procedures, workflows and communication to increase efficiency and provide a consistent experience for families.
- Work closely with Principals, teachers, Learning Support, EAL, Counsellors, Finance, IT and other relevant teams to coordinate application reviews, assessments, admission decisions and student transitions.
What makes you our ideal Candidate
- A bachelor’s degree in business administration, education, marketing or a related field; equivalent relevant professional experience will also be considered.
- Proven experience in admissions, enrolment management, recruitment or a related field, ideally within an international school or comparable educational environment.
- Demonstrated experience in leading, coordinating or developing a team.
- Strong understanding of the admissions journey and the factors influencing student recruitment and enrolment.
- Experience using admissions management systems or CRM platforms, ideally OpenApply, and confidence working with data, reports and performance indicators.
- Excellent organisational and project management skills, with the ability to prioritise competing demands and meet deadlines.
- Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trusting relationships with families and colleagues from diverse cultural backgrounds.
- A service-oriented and solutions-focused approach, combined with sound judgement, initiative and strategic thinking.
- Excellent written and spoken English; German is an advantage.
What we offer you: terms & benefits
- 30 days of holiday per year, plus the days between Christmas and New Year
- Hybrid work model (up to 2 days per week home office, depending on operational needs)
- Attractive pension contributions and social benefits
- A supportive, international, and open-minded working environment
- Opportunities for training and professional development
- A meaningful role contributing directly to the success of teachers, students, and our community
At ICS we are Humble, Welcoming, Committed, Resilient. We work as agile, growth-minded teams who turn ideas into meaningful impact with students at the centre.
