The Salvation Army Switzerland is a church and social non-profit organisation offering straightforward support to people in challenging life situations. On behalf of the city of Bern, it provides places in collective accommodation for people from the asylum and refugee sector. The collective accommodation (KU) Tiefenau in Bern has 492 places and could be expanded to a capacity of 750 places.To strengthen our team, we are looking for a committed individual as a Facility Management Employee.
Your tasks
- Accompanying residents during admissions and discharges, room changes, and everyday concerns
- Organisation, guidance and control of cleaning work within the workfare system as well as conducting room inspections
- Issuing and managing initial equipment, consumables and cleaning materials
- Carrying out cleaning, hygiene and disinfection work as well as maintenance and care of equipment and infrastructure
- Managing the facility management warehouse and organising waste disposal
- Coordinating and accompanying the Swiss Tafel offer
- Contributing to compliance with safety, hygiene and order regulations
- Supporting the reception and administration team in the 24/7 operation
- Collaborating with internal and external bodies and supporting the team management with organisational and operational tasks
Your profile
- Completed school and vocational training
- Professional experience, preferably in the social sector
- Knowledge of the social sector or asylum system is an advantage
- Cross-cultural competence
- Good oral and written German skills; English, French and other language skills are an advantage
- Basic knowledge of MS Office and experience with databases
- Quick comprehension as well as networked and flexible thinking
- Independent and reliable working style
- Enjoyment of practical, organisational and physical tasks
- Professional and appropriate interaction with different people
- Ability to remain calm and solution-oriented even in challenging situations
- Team spirit and willingness to support each other
- Willingness to work in shifts
- Generally a clean criminal record and special private extract
