Role:
Data is only as secure as the infrastructure that stores and protects it. As a System Engineer Storage & Backup, you ensure that this infrastructure runs reliably and grows with new requirements. On platforms from NetApp and Pure Storage, you design solutions that combine availability and data integrity. You confidently navigate between planning, operation, and fault analysis. Those who want to not only manage but actively develop storage and backup will find a technically strong environment here.
Responsibilities:
You configure storage pools, volumes, LUNs, and shares, maximising performance and capacity.
Furthermore, you manage services such as NFS, S3, NDMP, and snapshots and set up replications.
You are responsible for backup, restore, and retention policies for virtual and physical systems and secure immutable data sets via WORM.
You carefully plan and implement storage migrations, firmware upgrades, and lifecycle measures.
You integrate systems with VMware, KVM, and other virtualisation environments and operate SAN components as well as tape libraries.
Additionally, you conduct root cause analyses in case of faults and further develop monitoring and capacity planning.
Qualifications:
You bring solid experience in storage, backup, or infrastructure engineering for at least three years.
You have practical experience with enterprise storage, ideally with NetApp or Pure Storage.
You understand NAS, SAN, and object storage architectures in detail and master provisioning as well as filesystems.
You confidently apply recovery, retention, and high availability concepts, as well as protection mechanisms such as immutable backup.
Furthermore, you have hands-on experience with tape libraries and are well versed in KVM or VMware.
Moreover, you keep a cool head during critical faults and resolve them independently.
