Legal Specialist in Legislation (m/f/d)
starting 1 November 2026 or by arrangement- Drafting laws and ordinances as well as messages and other legal bases
- Responsibility for the legislative process of the total revision of the Municipal Act
- Preparation and support of political decision-making processes for the government and the cantonal council
- Advising internal departments on legislative matters and ensuring coherent implementation of legal requirements
- Providing legal information to various stakeholders
- Early identification of differing interests and development of viable solutions that equally consider the political scope for action and legal requirements
- Completed university degree (MLaw or lic. iur.), ideally with in-depth knowledge of public law
- Experience in legislation, legal drafting, and committee work
- Interest in constitutional and administrative law, especially in the areas of municipal law, social welfare law, and/or citizenship law
- Very good understanding of political processes and enjoyment of working with diverse stakeholders
- Ability to prepare complex legal issues clearly, precisely, and appropriately for the target audience
- Ability to exchange ideas within a team, contribute knowledge in discussions, as well as negotiation skills, persuasiveness, and confident demeanour
- Strong analytical and conceptual thinking skills as well as precise expression in spoken and written language
- You contribute to ensuring and further developing important, politically sensitive areas of our canton
- Challenging issues from diverse fields, links to current developments, and participation in central legislative processes for the canton of St. Gallen
