About the job

As part of our politics editorial team, you write about all the news from politics and contribute significantly to ensuring that Blick.ch remains the undisputed number 1 for breaking news.

Join our team from 1 February or by arrangement and apply now. The workplace can be in Bern or Zurich.

Journalist: Politics Desk (a)*

Your tasks

• You research and report on the most important decisions in Swiss politics
• You develop ideas for your own stories from local, cantonal and national politics – always close to our readers
• You manage live tickers during elections, referendums and Federal Council press conferences
• You implement creative ideas – e.g. storytelling formats such as Q&A, listicles, background articles or data visualisations
• You work in shifts (6am–11pm, focus on morning shift 7am–3:30pm) and regularly take weekend duties
• You work closely with colleagues from specialist departments, social media teams and SEO experts

Your profile

• You bring journalistic experience and know the Swiss political landscape well
• You are articulate, have confident German language skills and know what resonates with readers
• You have a good general education and understand what moves the country and its people
• You are at home in digital journalism and have a strong affinity for social media
• You keep an overview even in hectic moments, handle pressure and responsibility well, and have an independent and flexible working style

• After reviewing your documents, a phone call will follow for initial clarifications and to arrange an appointment
• Then a video call with Sven Altermatt and Lucien Fluri (Co-Heads of Politics), and Manuela Wyss, our HR Recruiting Partner (duration approx. 45 to 60 minutes)
• Next, you will get to know Blick on site
• And then, ideally, the contract offer will follow
