Director*in Music School Conservatory Zurich

Tasks

• Music School Conservatory Zurich (MKZ) is one of the six service departments of the School and Sports Department of the City of Zurich. As a member of the department's management, you report directly to the head of the School and Sports Department.
• You shape the strategic, operational and educational development of MKZ and, together with your management team, ensure a successful and future-oriented operation. In doing so, you ensure compliance with municipal requirements and quality standards.
• You create optimal conditions for contemporary, high-quality teaching in music, dance and theatre and promote an inspiring learning and development culture for pupils and staff.
• You further develop the strategic orientation and offerings of MKZ. In doing so, you create needs-based educational offerings for different target groups as well as for talent promotion and are responsible for long-term resource and financial planning.
• Together with internal and external partners, you further develop the space requirements strategy of MKZ and implement it in close cooperation with Immobilien Stadt Zürich (IMMO), the school office and the branches.
• You lead and promote a committed management team consisting of the Vice-Rector for Music Promotion, the Vice-Rector for Offerings and Events, the Head of Central Services, the Executive Assistant, the Head of Communications and the eight music school directors. As a member of the management team of the School and Sports Department, you report directly to the head of the department.

Profile

• You have a university degree (e.g. university, ETH, ZHAW, ZHdK). A completed management training as well as several years of leadership and management experience enable you to successfully shape and further develop demanding organisations. You also bring knowledge in project and process management. Experience in leading an educational institution is an advantage. You combine strategic thinking with implementation strength and act solution-oriented. In negotiations, you convince through your appreciative, partnership-based and binding communication.
• You communicate appropriately for the audience and have experience working with various stakeholders and committees (e.g. school commissions or teachers' conventions). Your high social competence, leadership strength and ability to promote and inspire people distinguish you.
• You understand political and social contexts and move confidently in the environment of politics and administration. Ideally, you have already successfully demonstrated your ability to act in this environment. In doing so, you take an active role in strategic steering and coordination committees in the field of music education in the city and canton of Zurich.
• Ideally, you have knowledge of the Swiss music education system and bring teaching experience at various levels. With your enthusiasm for education and music as well as your ability to win people over for common goals, you actively shape the future of MKZ.
