The Regional Prison Burgdorf is the most modern prison in the Canton of Bern and stands for a secure, structured and responsible execution of various types of detention.
With around 160 inmates and 60 employees, we ensure an orderly operation and high security standards daily. We are guided by the motto: "Security today and tomorrow. We open up perspectives for offenders – for the safety of all."

Your tasks

• You take over the operational management and professional development of the custodial coordination area.
• You ensure a uniform and quality-assured custodial practice according to the guidelines of the AJV and the penal system concordat of Northwestern and Central Switzerland and review the quality of custodial plans.
• You accompany central custodial decisions and progressions and ensure effective case management and professional reporting.
• You conduct internal and external case and custodial meetings, support the social service staff and maintain professional exchange with referring authorities and other partners.
• You further develop tools, concepts and work processes and contribute interdisciplinarily in meetings, supervisions as well as project and working groups.

Your profile

• You have a completed higher professional education (HF/FH/University) in social work, law, criminology or an equivalent qualified education related to the justice system.
• You bring 3 to 4 years of professional experience in a comparable field of activity, with a similar clientele and/or in public administration.
• Very good German and French skills, both spoken and written, are required. Additional language skills are an advantage.
• You convince with pronounced communication skills, intercultural competence and ability to work in a team.
• Your structured and goal-oriented way of working as well as your strong planning and organisational skills distinguish you.
• Responsibility, quality orientation, willingness to perform and perseverance complete your profile.

About the Office of Justice Execution

The Office of Justice Execution (AJV) is responsible for open and closed penal and measure execution for adults and juveniles within the Security Directorate of the Canton of Bern (SID) with around 1000 employees. To fulfil this task, the office has at its disposal four concordat penal institutions, four regional prisons, the surveillance station at Inselspital, the detention control centre as well as probation and execution services.
