Responsibilities

• Lead and further develop a research group: Professional, strategic and organisational leadership of a research group as well as targeted further development of its research profile and collaboration.
• Acquire third-party funding and lead projects: Active acquisition of national and international third-party funding as well as conception, application and management of research, development and service projects.
• Publish and transfer research results: Preparation and publication of research results in scientific journals as well as targeted transfer into practice and teaching.
• Design and take responsibility for teaching: Conduct teaching activities at Bachelor and Master levels, take on module responsibility and provide academic supervision of theses.
• Further develop educational offerings: Professional and didactic development of existing as well as conception of new educational offerings.
• Drive strategic networking and institute development: Build and maintain national and international professional networks and actively contribute to the strategic development of the institute.

Profile

To successfully fulfil this responsible role, you bring the following qualifications:

• You have a completed university degree in environmental sciences or a related field and ideally a doctorate. In addition, you bring several years of professional experience in practice, preferably in biodiversity promotion and/or climate adaptation in urban environments.
• You have experience in the conception, implementation and management of applied research and development projects and understand how to connect scientific questions with concrete practical challenges. You enjoy taking responsibility and leading and further developing interdisciplinary teams together.
• You have didactic qualifications for university teaching or are willing to acquire them. You enjoy inspiring students at Bachelor and Master levels on topics of urban ecology and actively shaping practice-oriented, high-quality teaching. You have very good language skills in both German and English for teaching in these languages.
• You enjoy building sustainable networks and maintaining exchange with partners from cities, administration, science and practice. You bring together different perspectives, think beyond disciplinary boundaries and contribute to transferring scientific knowledge into practice.
• You communicate openly, transparently and appreciatively and reliably take responsibility. With your positive, motivating attitude, you contribute ideas, drive innovations forward and inspire others for the joint development of research, teaching and practice.
