The Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts – Computer Science is the first computer science department at a Swiss university of applied sciences. We offer bachelor’s and master’s degree programmes that are in demand in business and science, as well as continuing education at the forefront, application-oriented research in current fields, and practice-oriented services.
The AI Robotics Lab at the Department of Computer Science and Information Technology investigates the application possibilities of artificial intelligence and robotic systems in various areas. Examples include Physical AI, human-machine collaboration with cobots, and navigation of mobile robotics. The team researches algorithms for perception, motion planning, and autonomous decision-making. For our laboratory, we are seeking an experienced and committed specialist to strengthen our team in application-oriented research and development.
Research Associate AI & Robotics 50 – 100%
Your tasks
- Software development and programming of algorithms for perception, motion planning, and decision-making of robots
- Experimental research & labs: setting up test environments and demonstrators, conducting scientific studies, supporting robotics events and hackathons
- Supporting the development team in all phases of the research and development process, from concept development to practical implementation, as well as co-responsibility for the laboratory’s hardware infrastructure (cobots, mobile platforms, legged robotics, sensor systems, ...)
- Contributions to research by supporting and collaborating in the writing of scientific papers, as well as presenting results at specialist conferences
- Supporting education and training in the field of robotics & artificial intelligence
Your profile
- Successfully completed university degree (bachelor’s or master’s) in computer science, robotics, AI/ML, data science, or a related engineering programme
- Expertise in robotics and AI, as well as solid knowledge of ROS/ROS2
- Confident programming skills in at least one relevant language (Python and/or C++)
- Good communication and organisational skills
- Good command of English
- Ability to multitask, solve problems quickly and efficiently, and work independently
