CSEM is a Swiss technology innovation centre and a non-profit, public-private organisation. With more than 600 employees at several locations, CSEM develops leading-edge technologies and transfers them into marketable applications together with industrial partners.
Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts - Computer Science and the Swiss technology innovation centre CSEM combine their expertise in Artificial Intelligence and Robotics. With a joint professorship for "Collective Human Robot Intelligence," the two partners strengthen Applied Physical AI in Central Switzerland and create a bridge between research, education, and industrial innovation.
The initiative expands the existing activities of CSEM and Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts (HSLU) in a dynamic technology field. The focus is on Physical AI, industrial AI, intelligent automation, autonomous systems, mobile robotics, healthcare robotics, as well as applications in aerospace. Companies thereby gain access to technologies, talents, and joint innovation projects.
For this professorship, we are seeking a proactive individual from 1 January 2027 or by arrangement. The position is equally based at HSLU and CSEM and is intended to establish and further develop joint research and innovation activities with companies, research partners, and public stakeholders.
Professor - Collective Human Robot Intelligence
Your tasks
- Application-oriented research activities in the field of Collective Human Robot Intelligence
- Acquisition and management of joint research and service projects involving HSLU – Computer Science and CSEM
- Establishment, positioning, and expansion of the joint partnership between HSLU – Computer Science and CSEM in the field of Applied Physical AI
- Teaching activities as well as tasks related to student recruitment and marketing of study programmes complete the scope of duties
- Teaching at Bachelor and Master level
- Supervision of student theses (Bachelor and Master level)
- Opportunity to contribute to continuing education offerings (e.g. CAS)
- National and international networking in the field of Collective Human Robot Intelligence
Your profile
- University degree with doctorate
- Proven experience in acquisition and management of research and service projects
- Sound management and communication skills
- Comprehensive scientific track record
- Practical and theoretical knowledge as well as several years of practical experience with robotics applications
- Very good German and English skills
- Ability to present complex matters clearly and to integrate research results into teaching
