1. Introduction
As preparation for a pedagogical or social profession, Birmensdorf Primary School offers young adults the opportunity to complete an internship in all areas of the school. This is intended to provide insight into the professional everyday life at a school.
2. Requirements for an Intern
• Extract from the criminal record / special private extract
• Flexibility regarding work assignments
• The intern has at least completed compulsory schooling.
• Depending on the area, the school board or the school management may formulate additional conditions.
3. Type of Assignment
Assignments are carried out according to the deployment plan. In principle, an intern can work in all school units. The work assignments are coordinated by the school management.
The goal is for the intern to gain as broad a picture of the professional field as possible. Accordingly, he/she should be deployed as diversely as possible.
4. Deployment Possibilities
School area:
• Support of teachers in lessons at all levels (no teaching)
• Accompanying school trips, class camps, ski camps, excursions, supporting teachers with school building projects
Daycare area:
• Support for kitchen help, lunch table and after-school care staff
• Taking on co-responsibility in care (under the guidance of the after-school care leaders and co-educators in accordance with the educational concept)
• Planning and carrying out targeted activities
Housekeeping area
• Deployment in housekeeping, assistance with gardening, maintenance and cleaning work
5. Employment Conditions
• The employing authority is the school board.
• Employment is according to the employment order. The conditions of the personnel law and the corresponding regulations of the canton of Zurich, as well as the personnel regulations of the supplementary school day structures, apply accordingly.
• Duration: variable; at least 4 weeks, maximum 6 months
• Remuneration: The internship salary is CHF 900.- per month (including 13th month salary and holiday pay)
• Supervisory authority is the school management
• Insurance: Interns are insured against occupational and non-occupational accidents. The internship salary is subject to social security contributions.
• Meals: Interns who complete their internship in the after-school care can have lunch free of charge in the after-school care.
• Final report/certificate: The intern prepares an internship report at the end of the internship and receives a certificate.
6. Internship Supervision
Internship supervision is the responsibility of the school management. The supervision includes the following:
• Supervision of the intern during the assignment
• Distribution and coordination of tasks
• Preparation of a certificate
• At least monthly exchange
7. Working Hours
The intern records the days worked in the working time recording, which he/she submits to the school management for review at the end of each month.
The working time is 42 hours per week (8 hours 24 minutes per day). Overtime may only be worked after consultation with the supervisory authority. Overtime must be compensated and will not be paid out.
