Your Tasks
- You bear overall responsibility for a high-quality primary school in the city of Lucerne.
- You lead the six-member executive management of the primary school of the city of Lucerne and are simultaneously a member of the executive management of the Department of Education.
- You manage the principalship of the primary school with nine directly subordinate employees.
- You are responsible for the strategic goals and the performance mandate of the primary school with a global budget of over 125 million Swiss francs.
- You represent the overall interests of the primary school and maintain active networking with offices of the city and canton of Lucerne as well as with other cities in Switzerland. In doing so, you participate in various working groups and committees.
- You develop the primary school together with the leadership team in a future-oriented manner and set impulses for innovative school and organisational development.
Your Profile
- You are a committed and convincing leader with a pedagogical university or university of applied sciences degree or an equivalent qualification.
- You are interested in educational policy issues and the shaping of public service in the education sector.
- You are familiar with internal administrative processes and have a good sense of political contexts and decision-making processes.
- You think ahead, develop visionary ideas, and want to actively shape the primary school.
- You have proven experience in project and change management and navigate confidently through change processes.
- You recognise the opportunities of digital transformation and help shape it in a future-oriented way.
- You communicate clearly, transparently, and appropriately for the audience.
The primary school of the city of Lucerne, with around 1500 employees, educates and supports children aged 4 to 16 according to their abilities and interests. Nineteen school operational units are distributed across the various districts of the city. The diverse primary school offering includes kindergartens, basic levels, primary and secondary schools, school services, as well as day-structure programmes. In the 2026/2027 school year, 6,700 pupils will be taught.
