No day is the same: at the Biel regional prison, you work with people in challenging life situations, ensure a safe and well-organised daily routine, and at the same time are an important contact person.

The Biel regional prison has 44 detention places for female and male inmates and is used for the execution of pre-trial detention, detention for security reasons, and short custodial sentences. It is part of the Bern Cantonal Penal Enforcement Office (OEJ), which, with its approximately 1000 employees, is primarily responsible for the enforcement of sentences and penal measures.

Your tasks

• Supervision and monitoring of detainees
• Implementation and application of security instructions to ensure the safety of the public, staff, and detainees
• Support and assistance to detainees during their detention
• Participation in organising internal leisure activities
• Implementation of the "Dynamic Security" work model directives in accordance with CSCSP training
• Collaboration with judicial and police authorities as well as other internal and external services
• Teamwork with day, night, and weekend shifts, within a 24/7, 365 days per year operation

Your profile

• Due to the current composition of our team and the requirements related to the operation of the regional prison, this job offer is exclusively for female candidates
• Completed professional training
• Ideally, experience in supervision in the social or intercultural field
• Preferably, a diploma as a penal enforcement specialist or willingness to undertake this training
• No criminal record
• Native French or German speaker with the ability to communicate in the other language; additional language skills are an advantage
• Good IT knowledge as well as good organisational and administrative skills

About the Penal Enforcement Office

Within the Security Directorate, the Penal Enforcement Office, with its approximately 1000 employees, is responsible for the enforcement of sentences and measures for adults and juveniles in open or closed settings. To fulfil its tasks, it operates five regional prisons, four concordat penal institutions, the Cell Division of the Insel Hospital, the Detention Place Coordination Service, and the Probation and Penal Sanctions Enforcement Section.
