The Municipal Office supports the Zurich municipalities in fulfilling their statutory duties. It advises and assists municipalities and the public in the areas of municipal law, municipal finances, naturalisations, residents' registration, and civil status matters. The Municipal Office also assumes cantonal enforcement and supervisory tasks and is responsible for infrastructure for digital services.
The Municipal Finance Department supervises municipalities in budget management and budget control, calculates and implements financial equalisation, and prepares analyses on the financial situation and development of Zurich municipalities.

Your Area of Responsibility
With us, you will work conceptually and professionally around the topic of finances of cities and municipalities. You will help shape the further development of the financial budget and accounting of cities and municipalities and contribute your expertise to the financial supervision of municipalities. Independent advice on internal and external inquiries regarding municipal finances as well as supervisory audits of annual accounts are also central to your responsibilities. You will also prepare decision-making bases for the administration and politics and engage with the intra-cantonal financial equalisation and its challenges.
In addition to your professional activities, you will take on technical leadership tasks. You will actively participate in projects and professional developments, support colleagues with your knowledge, and take responsibility not only for your tasks but also for the collective success of the team.
What You Bring
You are a versatile individual who quickly and confidently familiarises themselves with different financial topics and enjoys taking on demanding tasks. Financial figures, accounting, and the application of law interest you equally. You think analytically, work in a structured manner, and have a confident and audience-appropriate manner towards internal and external partners. You enjoy working with others, share your knowledge, and constructively bring together different perspectives.
You can adapt to new situations, are willing to embrace change, and are open to further developing existing working methods.
You have several years of professional experience in public finance and/or in a public administration or organisation. Ideally, you have proven practical experience in the cantonal or municipal environment as well as in dealing with political issues and/or in the professional management of financial topics.
You hold a university degree in business administration, political science, law and/or a higher professional qualification – for example, as a certified auditor, federally certified expert in accounting and controlling, or a comparable further education in finance and accounting.
Strong analytical skills, independence, a high quality awareness, reliability, and willingness to learn complete your profile.
