About the job
An engineering position with perspective: As a Site Reliability Engineer, you solve complex challenges with direct impact and keep demanding web applications resilient and highly available. You can rely on a strong and experienced team behind you.
Intelliact is a spin-off from ETH Zurich and has never lost its start-up ethos in over 25 years of activity. Our goal: to help companies from various industries (including mechanical engineering, plant engineering, trade, etc.) generate added value from product data. Instead of relying on off-the-shelf solutions, we think one step further and develop innovative, customised web solutions (Business Productivity Apps, B2B Commerce and Collaboration) with the best possible user experience.
It never gets boring! As part of our team, you take responsibility for the operation and maintenance of our demanding and award-winning web applications. You act independently and monitor performance and availability. You work as part of the development team to optimise incident response and promote knowledge sharing. Your direct influence on the quality, stability and efficiency of our systems will significantly contribute to customer satisfaction, which is also reflected in industry awards such as the Best of Swiss Web (2019: 3 awards, 2021: 4 awards, 2022: 5 awards, 2024: 6 awards, 2025: 7 awards).
Application process in 4 steps
- Application with CV and cover letter, stating which of our apps convinced you the most (in German)
- First interview 45 to 60 minutes (with a self-assessment as preparation)
- Second interview, assessment 120 minutes
- Clarification of final terms
Requirements
You bring this with you (or want to take it to the next level with us):
- Experience in the methodological patterns for backend and frontend of web applications.
- Experience in system administration and knowledge of cloud infrastructure with a focus on resilience and scalability.
- Application development in TypeScript and PHP.
- Handling incidents and postmortems: ability to react quickly and independently to issues, analyse causes and develop solutions to prevent similar problems in the future.
- Fluent communication in German and English.
Tasks
You are at the pulse of our systems: With tools like Sentry, you detect errors in real time and fix them proactively and sustainably, even before the customer notices anything.
Incident response. You react to errors, disruptions and outages, conduct a quick root cause analysis (RCA) and develop solutions together with the team. Afterwards, you create postmortems so the whole team can learn.
You use the insights gained as a starting point to sustainably improve the code base, eliminate performance bottlenecks in backend/frontend and build more resilient system architectures together with the team, so the system remains fresh even after years in operation.
Process automation. You identify manual processes and automate them to increase efficiency and reduce human errors.
Documentation and knowledge sharing. You not only constantly learn yourself but also bring your own insights back to the team in the form of short in-house tech talks, guides and documentation.
You take your share of responsibility for the operation and monitoring of the system, taking SLAs into account.
