Role:

As a Senior Storage & Backup Engineer, you are the technical authority for storage and data backup. You shape the architecture of a business-critical infrastructure around NetApp and Pure Storage and set the standards for its further development. Technical depth counts here. Your concepts determine how quickly systems recover after a failure. You actively shape the change, from evaluating new technologies to platform renewal.

Responsibilities:

• You are responsible for the technical architecture of Storage Area Network (SAN), NAS, and object storage environments and establish binding standards.

• For business-critical data, you define backup, retention, and recovery architectures including immutable and air-gap protection.

• Furthermore, you plan snapshot, replication, and disaster recovery concepts that reliably meet defined RPO and RTO targets.

• You design data paths to VMware, KVM, and other virtualisation platforms and integrate tape libraries into the overall architecture.

• In addition, you drive storage and data centre migrations, develop capacity and alerting concepts, and test new solutions in proofs of concept.

• You also lead the technical analysis during serious incidents and uncover causes at the system, protocol, and network levels.

Qualifications:

• A long-standing career in storage, backup, or infrastructure engineering forms your foundation.

• You have been working practically for years with enterprise storage systems from NetApp or Pure Storage.

• You master protocols and functions such as NFS, S3, NDMP, snapshots, and replication as well as LUNs, volumes, filesystems, and storage pools.

• You are familiar with multipathing and highly available connections in SAN and know how to integrate VMware or KVM cleanly into enterprise storage.

• Furthermore, you assess architectures based on availability, scalability, recovery, and security and have already implemented WORM, archiving, and cyber recovery concepts.

• You also impress with analytical thoroughness and a structured working method when solving performance issues across host, network, and virtualisation.
