The Salvation Army Switzerland is a church and social non-profit organisation offering straightforward support to people in challenging life situations. On behalf of the city of Bern, it provides places in collective accommodation for people from the asylum and refugee sector. The collective accommodation (KU) Tiefenau in Bern has 492 places and could be expanded to a capacity of 750 places.To strengthen our team, we are looking for a committed individual as an employee.
Your tasks
- Contact person for residents regarding health and psychological concerns
- Conducting medical initial assessments and triage
- First aid for injuries and wounds within existing competencies as well as organising or arranging further medical care.
- Support in organising and coordinating medical assessments and treatments as well as mediation between residents and external health professionals
- Organisation of interpreter services for internal and external appointments and organisation of necessary transport services
- Management, maintenance and updating of medical client files and data protection-compliant documentation in NFAM
- Professional support for civil service workers, interns and new employees in the own specialist area.
Your profile
- Completed training in the health sector (e.g. Health Specialist EFZ, Nursing Specialist HF/FH, Medical Practice Assistant or comparable training) and professional experience in healthcare
- Experience working in the social or asylum sector / with people from different cultures is an advantage
- Cross-cultural competence
- Very good German skills in spoken and written form; English, French and other language skills are an advantage
- Good knowledge of MS Office and experience with databases
- Quick comprehension as well as networked and flexible thinking
- Independent and reliable working style
- Careful and respectful interaction with diverse people
- Maintaining a professional proximity-distance balance in contact with residents
- Ability to communicate complex medical issues appropriately to the audience
- Ability to remain calm and solution-oriented even in challenging situations
- Team spirit and willingness to support each other
- Clean criminal record and special private extract
