What you can contribute

• Shape the data diffusion of the FSO and further develop content, processes and tools together with the team
• Support the statistical units of the office in preparing and publishing their datasets and metadata; ensure the smooth publication of statistical datasets on the various FSO platforms, especially in the Swiss Stats Explorer
• Contribute to the management, maintenance and further development of FSO applications in the area of data diffusion
• Introduce, optimise and automate diffusion processes for data and metadata to increase the efficiency and quality of publications

What makes you unique

• University degree (UH, FH) in computer science, information management, communication, statistics, data science, mathematics or comparable fields
• Extensive experience in processing, managing and valorising data and metadata as well as handling data exchange formats JSON and XML; knowledge of the SDMX standard is an advantage
• Ability to collaborate with various internal and external partners, advise them and support the implementation of their requirements; knowledge of processes and methods for the diffusion of statistical and open data is an advantage
• Proven programming experience (Python, R or other programming languages); knowledge of Git as well as experience with containerisation and orchestration tools is an advantage
• Good conceptual and editorial skills as well as very good knowledge of two official languages and English

In a nutshell

You actively shape the diffusion of data at the Federal Statistical Office (FSO) and help to make official data accessible, simplify its use and increase its reusability. In collaboration with the statistical departments and partners of public statistics in Switzerland, you contribute to the creation and publication of structured datasets, especially in the form of data cubes, which are made available via the Swiss Stats Explorer and open data platforms.
You coordinate between the specialist departments responsible for statistical production and the diffusion platforms. In doing so, you accompany the preparation of data and metadata, contribute to the continuous improvement of processes and develop automation solutions to make data publication more reliable and efficient.
With your expertise and team spirit, you make an important contribution to the modernisation of statistical data diffusion in Switzerland. You help to provide high-quality, open and easy-to-use data for authorities, companies, research and the public.

It produces statistical information, advocates for harmonised data through national data management and advances knowledge extraction from data using data science methods.
