Those who truly want to understand and shape enterprise infrastructure will find a technically demanding environment here. The focus is on virtualisation, storage, automation and secure platform architectures – with plenty of room for engineering rather than just day-to-day operations.
Responsibilities:
Development and operation of a powerful enterprise platform for virtualised workloads
Assuming a central engineering role for the technical infrastructure architecture
Planning new platform components from the hardware level to integration into the application landscape
Development of standardised architectural building blocks for compute, virtualisation, storage and network
Technical responsibility for the further development and modernisation of the virtualisation platform
Management of the entire platform lifecycle from evaluation and design to migration and decommissioning
Building highly available and resilient platforms for business-critical systems
Optimisation of resource consumption, performance and operating costs through standardisation
Automation of provisioning, configuration and operational processes
Use of Terraform, Ansible or comparable technologies for reproducible infrastructure
Engineering of VMware Cloud Foundation and NSX
Development of secure network and segmentation concepts within virtualised environments
Planning and optimisation of powerful storage solutions for different data requirements
Integration of vSAN, SAN/FC, block, file and S3 storage
Use of central management platforms for monitoring and controlling the infrastructure
Collaboration with network, security, storage and system engineering teams
Conducting in-depth performance and fault analyses
Identification of bottlenecks and development of sustainable technical solutions
Conducting capacity planning for the long-term scalability of the platform
Creation of technical standards, operational concepts and architecture documentation
Active further development of security, automation and operational quality
Qualifications:
Education or advanced training in computer science, systems engineering or comparable technical expertise
Several years of experience in building and operating enterprise infrastructures
Very good knowledge of virtualisation technologies and VMware environments
Practical experience with Broadcom VMware Cloud Foundation and NSX
Solid knowledge of storage architectures and enterprise storage systems
Understanding of network, operating system and identity dependencies within complex platforms
Experience with infrastructure automation and configuration management
Knowledge of Ansible, Terraform or comparable tools
High awareness of security, availability and data integrity
Experience with technical lifecycle and migration projects
Strong skills in troubleshooting, root cause analysis and performance engineering
Independent and methodical working style
Enjoyment of interdisciplinary collaboration and technical knowledge transfer
Interest in long-term engineering in a highly regulated and security-critical environment
