As an Application Engineer, you are the central technical authority for assessing whether and under what conditions HAELOK® products can be used in specific applications.
You ensure that applications are correctly understood, evaluated according to relevant standards and approvals, and clearly communicated both internally and externally. Your work directly contributes to technical credibility, compliance with regulatory requirements, and risk minimisation in customer projects.
This position requires pronounced technical judgement, a structured approach, and confident customer interaction.
Main tasks and responsibilities:
Application assessment & technical clarification
Analysis and understanding of customer applications, operating conditions, and system requirements Identification of relevant technical parameters (e.g. pressure, temperature, medium, environment, regulatory framework) Ensuring complete and structured documentation of application cases
Certification and conformity assessment
- Checking whether applications are covered by existing approvals, certifications, and standards
- Clear definition and communication of:
- Approved application cases
- Restrictions or exclusions
required additional tests or certifications
Interpretation of standards (e.g. EN, ISO, ASME, FM or AGFW) in the context of specific applications
Technical risk assessment & decision support
- Identification of technical or regulatory risks in planned applications
- Preparation of clear, fact-based recommendations for product use
- Escalation of unclear or critical cases to internal specialist departments (e.g. development, testing, quality assurance)
Customer and sales support
- Central contact person for application-related technical queries
- Support for sales in technical clarifications with customers
- Clear and structured communication of complex technical and regulatory content
Complaint and case handling
- Structuring and documenting technical issues and complaints
- Supporting internal analyses by providing complete application information
- Ensuring consistent and professional communication with customers
Technical documentation & knowledge transfer
- Contributing to the creation and maintenance of technical documentation
- Supporting training (internal and external) on applications, restrictions, and standards
- Building and maintaining structured internal knowledge on applications and approvals
Standards and industry representation
- Monitoring and interpreting relevant standards and regulatory developments
- Supporting certification and approval processes
- Representing HAELOK® in technical committees and industry exchanges (as needed)
Requirements and qualifications:
- Completed degree in mechanical engineering (university, FH/ETH or equivalent)
- At least 5 years of professional experience in a technical, application-related, or regulatory environment
- Sound knowledge of technical standards, certifications, and regulatory frameworks
- Experience in interpreting standards in real applications
- Ability to confidently assess and clearly communicate technical limits
- Strong communication and presentation skills
- Fluent German and English (spoken and written)
