The Veterinary Service within the Office for Agriculture is responsible for enforcing animal protection, animal disease, and veterinary medicinal product legislation as well as food legislation in the area of animal husbandry and slaughter in the Canton of Solothurn. For the Food Safety Department, we are seeking an official Meat Specialist Assistant, 80-100% at the Oensingen location from 01.01.2027 or by arrangement.
Your responsibilities
- Together with other official specialist assistants, you conduct meat inspection on the slaughter line of the largest and most modern cattle slaughterhouse in Switzerland.
- Your duties also include other tasks such as hygiene inspections, sampling, slaughter animal and meat inspection in small businesses, etc.
Your profile
- You have completed a vocational apprenticeship in the food sector, preferably as a butcher or meat specialist, and ideally hold the official Meat Specialist Assistant certificate or are willing to obtain it.
- High resilience, flexibility, and teamwork skills are among your strengths, and you communicate with customers in a friendly and clear manner.
- Manual dexterity and good physical condition are basic requirements for this role.
