No day is like another: At the Biel Regional Prison, you work with people in challenging life situations, ensure a safe and orderly daily routine, and are simultaneously an important contact person.

The Biel Regional Prison has 44 detention places for women and men and serves the enforcement of investigative and security detention as well as short prison sentences. It belongs to the Office for the Enforcement of Sentences of the Canton of Bern, which, with around 1,000 employees, is responsible for the enforcement of sentences and criminal measures.

Your tasks

• Care and supervision of the admitted persons
• Implementation and enforcement of safety regulations to protect the public, employees, and detainees
• Support and assistance in daily prison life
• Co-organisation of internal leisure activities
• Implementation of the "Dynamic Security" work model according to SKJV training
• Collaboration with court and police authorities as well as other internal and external agencies
• Work in shifts with day, night, and weekend duties in a 24-hour operation, 365 days a year

Your profile

• Due to the current team composition and operational requirements, this advertisement is preferably aimed at female applicants.
• Completed vocational training
• Ideally experience in care, social or intercultural fields
• Preferably diploma as a Justice Enforcement Specialist or willingness to complete this training
• No entry in the criminal record extract
• German or French as mother tongue and ability to communicate in the other language; additional language skills are an advantage
• Good IT user skills as well as organisational and administrative competence

About the Office for the Enforcement of Sentences

The Office for the Enforcement of Sentences (AJV) with around 1000 employees within the Security Directorate of the Canton of Bern (SID) is responsible for open and closed enforcement of sentences and measures for adults and juveniles. To fulfil this task, the office has four concordat justice enforcement institutions, four regional prisons, the surveillance station at Inselspital, the detention control centre, as well as probation and enforcement services at its disposal.
