In the Department of Architecture, Wood and Civil Engineering , we shape the built environment for the future. Together with partners from business and society, we develop pioneering solutions for sustainable living spaces and infrastructures and learn from nature through the material wood.

Graphic Designer / Visual Designer

What you will do here

• Concept and design: Developing creative ideas and visual concepts for advertising materials, websites, brochures, flyers and social media channels
• Design: Implementing layouts, infographics, animations and image editing for print and digital media up to publication- or print-ready finalisation
• Corporate design: Applying and further developing the visual brand identity of the Bern University of Applied Sciences as well as ensuring a consistent appearance of the Departments of Architecture, Wood and Civil Engineering and Technology and Computer Science
• Collaboration: Close coordination with specialists from marketing, communications, events and web as well as cooperation with external service providers
• Project management: Independent planning and coordination of design projects as well as responsibility for deadlines, quality and implementation up to prepress

What you ideally bring with you

• Completed studies or a comparable qualification in graphic design, visual communication or communication design
• At least 3–5 years of professional experience in graphic or communication design
• Very good knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud, especially Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign; knowledge of After Effects and experience with AI tools
• A keen sense of typography, layout and colour as well as a creative, independent, structured and reliable working style and enjoyment of teamwork
• A compelling portfolio with work samples demonstrating design and conceptual experience in print and digital media
