Your tasks
- You identify topics relevant to our readers – and show with data what others overlook.
- You procure datasets from public sources, requests, scraping or APIs.
- You check, clean and analyse data methodically and accurately.
- You condense your results into clear statements and robust theses and write them up in concise articles.
- You develop the appropriate visual form together with graphics and development: chart, map, dashboard or interactive calculator.
- You work on quick pieces about the news situation as well as on longer-term investigations.
- You help shape the strategic further development of the Visuals department across locations.
Your profile
- You have already worked journalistically and published your own contributions – ideally data-driven.
- You think journalistically and have a keen sense for news and relevance.
- You work confidently with Python and Pandas. Knowledge of R, web scraping, APIs, geodata, Datawrapper, HTML, CSS, Node.js and Git is welcome.
- You recognise which visualisation best supports a contribution.
- You work carefully, independently and critically with sources.
- You are interested in German politics and economy.
- You enjoy working in a team and are willing to regularly stay in Berlin and Zurich.
