The Personnel Management for Teaching Staff department of the Education and Culture Directorate is looking for a lawyer for maternity cover from 1 December 2026 to 31 July 2027. You will convince us with your independent and reliable way of working.
Your tasks
- You advise the directorate and offices on personnel law matters and provide information to teaching staff and school management
- You contribute to personnel policy decision-making bases
- You participate in legislative projects
- Support in procedures concerning continued salary payment in case of illness/accident of teaching staff
Your profile
- University degree in law
- Bar admission desired
- Experience in legislation is an advantage
- Several years of professional experience with knowledge of labour law
- Very good comprehension skills
- High oral communication competence
- Confident German language skills and good French skills (at least level B2)

The General Secretariat of the Education and Culture Directorate supports the Education and Culture Director in fulfilling his tasks. It coordinates the activities of the offices and departments as a staff unit and reviews all submissions and applications to the Education and Culture Director.
Department description
The Personnel Management for Teaching Staff (PML) department of the General Secretariat advises the directorate on all personnel policy matters concerning teaching staff and school management.
In addition to political leadership support for the directorate, the PML is responsible for handling conceptual questions of personnel policy, further developing and optimising the employment and working conditions of teachers and school management, and managing legislative projects.
