Sales and Business Development Employee 30–50% (m/f/d)

About the job

Buecherchorb.ch has been operating a small, fine bookshop in Aadorf since 2020, supported by a cooperative and firmly rooted in the region. With great passion, we offer a diverse range of books, selected stationery and gift items, a modern online shop, as well as a space for encounters.

As part of a succession solution, we are looking for an initiative sales personality from 1 March 2027 or by arrangement, who will actively further develop our business with entrepreneurial spirit and enthusiasm for people.

Your tasks:

  • You competently and enthusiastically advise our customers and are actively involved in in-store sales
  • You take responsibility for expanding our business with institutional and commercial customers and largely develop this area independently
  • You actively acquire new customers, especially schools, municipal and school libraries, church communities and local businesses, and maintain existing business relationships
  • You develop our business with office and consumable materials in cooperation with our partner
  • You plan sales activities, prepare offers and consistently pursue sales opportunities until completion
  • You develop ideas for commercial events and market appearances and implement them together with our event coordination and volunteers
  • You work closely with our store management and the board of directors to jointly further develop our business

Your profile:

  • Completed vocational training, preferably in bookselling, retail or commercial field, as well as experience in active sales or new customer acquisition
  • A sociable, engaging personality who enjoys approaching people and building long-term customer relationships
  • Entrepreneurial thinking, closing strength, initiative, flexibility and enjoyment in achieving sales targets
  • Interest in books, education, culture and local businesses
  • An independent, structured way of working, reliability and a convincing appearance
  • Connection to Aadorf and the region as well as engagement in village life are welcome but not a requirement
  • An existing network to businesses, schools and church communities is a plus but not a requirement
  • Willingness to work regular Saturdays (09:00–16:00), which are shared within the store team

What to expect:

  • A versatile part-time role with plenty of scope for creativity and short decision-making paths
  • The opportunity to build new business areas and actively shape the development of our bookshop
  • A flexible work organisation with freedom for external customer visits and active new customer acquisition
  • A committed team and motivated volunteers who actively support you

At the same time, we are filling the position of Bookshop Manager (40–60%) anew and look forward to the collaboration of two complementary personalities. Interested?
