Full Professor HES (100%)
responsible for the Competence Group Machine and Product Design
Your mission
You will be responsible for the Machine and Product Design group within HE Arc Engineering, while actively contributing to partnership, scientific, and educational development. The role involves leading research and innovation activities directly linked to the needs of the Jura Arc industrial fabric, supporting teaching, and participating in the institution’s influence at regional and national levels.
Your duties
The selected candidate will supervise, manage, and unite the resources of an R&D competence group, ensuring the sustainability and evolution of skills in topics related to their group and around a coherent strategic vision. They will also ensure prospecting, acquisition, and monitoring of innovation projects and R&D mandates, in direct interaction with our industrial and academic partners.
The role includes rigorous budget management; the results and activities conducted are promoted both scientifically and to the general public, notably through networking actions within the regional industrial ecosystem.
The position also includes teaching activities in our Industrial Design Engineering and Microtechnology programmes, as well as supervising other related courses, notably the MSE Master. Close collaboration with other competence groups at HE Arc and other academic institutions is expected.
Your profile
The position requires a higher education degree in engineering sciences, preferably mechanical engineering, with proven experience in the design and/or eco-design of production machines (machining, assembly, additive manufacturing, etc.) and mastery of various technologies and processes (milling, turning, laser, additive, etc.). Skills in designing consumer technical products are a plus. At least five years of professional experience in an industrial environment are expected, as well as proven team management skills.
A Master’s degree or equivalent is required, while additional training in management is an asset. The role demands proven ability to coordinate and unite multidisciplinary teams, manage R&D projects, and master the setup of such projects as well as funding acquisition.
An analytical, creative, and rigorous approach is essential, as well as excellent communication skills and a strong aptitude for collaborative work. Fluency in French and English is required, while knowledge of German is an additional advantage.
Work location: Saint-Imier and Neuchâtel
