For the Oberland Public Prosecutor's Office in Thun, we are looking for a Legal Secretary. The position is limited until 31 August 2027.

Your tasks

• Support the management of the Public Prosecutor's Office as well as the procedural management in conducting criminal investigations
• Conduct clarifications, draft motions and orders within the framework of the preliminary proceedings, and prepare indictments and party submissions
• Assist with personal prosecution representation and draft internal appeal notifications
• Support the penal order prosecutors in preparing decisions (legal clarifications)
• Supervise legal interns
• Prepare presentations and draft minutes

Your profile

• Attorney or Bernese notary patent
• Analytical and interconnected thinking
• Quick comprehension, structured and efficient working style
• Assertiveness and perseverance
• Open and communicative personality
• Excellent German skills (spoken and written) and good French skills (B1)

The Public Prosecutor's Office is responsible for enforcing the state's criminal claims. It conducts the preliminary proceedings, prosecutes offences within the framework of investigations, files charges if necessary, and represents these charges in court. In minor cases, it issues a penal order. Organisationally, the Public Prosecutor's Office of the Canton of Bern consists of the General Public Prosecutor's Office, three public prosecutor's offices for the entire canton area (one public prosecutor's office for the prosecution of economic offences, one public prosecutor's office for special tasks, and one public prosecutor's office for juvenile criminal matters), as well as four regional public prosecutor's offices (Bernese Jura-Seeland, Emmental-Oberaargau, Bern-Mittelland and Oberland).
