Job Description
- You ensure the reliable operation of AIX, Linux, WebSphere and IBM POWER environments and support our customers in 1st, 2nd and partly 3rd level support.
- You analyse and resolve technical faults and develop sustainable solutions for complex system environments.
- You support the operation and further development of Linux-on-POWER, Linux, AIX and WebSphere infrastructures.
- You independently plan and implement engineering tasks and IT projects – from analysis and conception to implementation and handover.
- With appropriate experience, you also take on project management and coordinate technical implementations.
- You install, configure, optimise and maintain IBM POWER environments in customer infrastructures and accompany their acceptance.
- You continuously develop existing environments and identify potentials for automation, standardisation and efficiency improvements.
- You work closely with our customers and support them competently on site, by phone and remotely.
- You advise customers on technical issues and contribute your know-how in consulting & engineering.
- You support our sales colleagues in the technical elaboration of offers and solutions.
- You contribute your ideas to our standardisation and innovation process and help shape the development of new IT solutions based on POWER and Linux technologies.
- You support the team management in deployment and resource planning as well as in coordinating operations, tasks and projects.
- You ensure professional and timely reporting of your services.
- As part of operational support, you also take on on-call duties.
- Completed technical training, advanced technical education or degree in computer science, systems engineering or a comparable field.
- Several years of professional experience as a system engineer, Linux engineer, AIX engineer or in a comparable position.
- Solid experience in the operation and engineering of Linux and/or AIX systems.
- Good knowledge of the IBM POWER environment and ideally Linux on POWER.
- Knowledge of WebSphere is an advantage.
- Experience with high availability and disaster recovery solutions as well as systems management.
- Knowledge in data encryption, certificate management and security is an advantage.
- Experience with automation and scripting is a plus.
- Enjoyment of technical challenges as well as a solution-oriented and independent working style.
- Strong customer orientation and enjoyment of working with different contacts.
- Willingness to take responsibility and continuously develop professionally.
- Certifications in Linux, IBM POWER, AIX or comparable technologies are an advantage.
Good German language skills in spoken and written form as well as good English skills
