The Fleet Management and Telecommunications department ensures the operational capability of the Bern Cantonal Police through a powerful vehicle fleet and a reliable communications infrastructure. It is responsible for the procurement, operation, and strategic development of mobility solutions – for the Bern Cantonal Police as well as the entire canton – and telecommunications systems. The goal is to provide the emergency services at all times with modern, functional resources for successful missions while ensuring maximum endurance.
Your tasks
- Responsible for the strategic and operational management of the entire Fleet Management and Telecommunications department, including the cantonal mobility procurement office
- Technical, organisational, and personnel leadership of the department with a total of around 45 employees, including direct management of 5 employees
- Development of innovative solutions to ensure the endurance of e-mobility as well as modern communication technologies
- Development of forward-looking plans for financial resources, replacement procurements, and further developments as well as ensuring sustainability in the mobility sector to securely achieve the long-term goals of the Bern Cantonal Police and the canton
- Monitoring service delivery based on clear key figures, optimising processes together with the department heads, and ensuring that services meet the requirements of business processes
- Central coordination and communication role in the event of major disruptions and outages as well as management of the supplier interface
- Active participation in interdisciplinary working groups and authority networks to represent the needs of the Bern Cantonal Police
Your profile
- Technical basic training in electronics or ICT with supplementary university of applied sciences training in management or business administration
- Extensive experience in the environment of blue light organisations (BORS) as well as the ability to competently assess complex technical and security-related issues
- Proven leadership experience with a confident, appreciative leadership style
- Strategic foresight and innovative strength in key areas such as radio, mobile and satellite communication, drone systems and countermeasures, e-mobility, and special electronics
- Demonstrable experience in financial, resource, and budget planning within the framework of profit centre responsibility
- Convincing conceptual skills and high social competence, combined with resilience, solution-oriented action, and decisiveness
- Very good German language skills in spoken and written form as well as communication skills in English and French
