Civil registries assist people in various situations, joyous or difficult: births, marriages, paternity acknowledgements, deaths, preparatory marriage procedures, or declarations concerning names. These examples illustrate the varied tasks awaiting you in your role as a civil registrar.
Your tasks
- Reception of declarations (e.g. in the context of paternity acknowledgements, preparatory marriage procedures, and declarations concerning names)
- Accurate entry of all civil status events occurring in Switzerland or abroad and disclosure of data from civil registers, in accordance with legislation
- Conducting marriage ceremonies
- Providing information to clients, at the counter or by telephone, and handling routine matters
Your profile
- Commercial training or equivalent
- Federal certificate as a civil registrar or willingness to undertake the demanding training of approximately three years
- Good capacity for assimilation and an autonomous and very precise working method
- Fluency in French and German, both written and spoken (bilingual); knowledge of other languages is an advantage
- Strong understanding of legal matters
- Social skills, excellent personal, social and intercultural competencies
