Senior DevOps Platform Engineer (m/f/d)

Role:

Stable platforms arise from the interplay of Linux engineering, containerisation, automation, and clean software delivery. In this role, you actively shape exactly this interplay: from the Linux base through Kubernetes and CI/CD to security, monitoring, and highly available operation.

Responsibilities:

Linux & Kubernetes

• You are responsible for the reliable operation and further development of RHEL and SLES systems.

• You operate and optimise Kubernetes on SUSE Rancher / RKE2 for a demanding 7x24 operation.

• You conduct maintenance, upgrades, and release changes in a structured manner within defined maintenance windows.

Automation & Delivery

• You develop Ansible playbooks, roles, and collections and establish infrastructure as code in daily operations.

• You operate and expand AWX as a central automation platform.

• You develop CI/CD pipelines on Forgejo and support development and application teams in their use.

Operations & Security

• You monitor the platform with appropriate monitoring and support processes and ensure stable operation.

• You contribute to OS hardening and vulnerability remediation.

• You support securing privileged accounts as well as managing certificates and secrets.

• You take responsibility for the platform outside regular working hours as part of the on-call service.

Qualifications:

• You have a technical education at technical college, university of applied sciences, university, or ETH level or an equivalent practical qualification.

• You bring several years of experience with Linux and Kubernetes in highly available 7x24 environments.

• You have very good knowledge of Ansible and are well acquainted with IaC, CI/CD, and DevOps.

• Ideally, you are familiar with platform security, load balancing, DNS, and firewalls.

• You have experience with distributed and highly available system landscapes.

• You work proactively, responsibly, and service-oriented and can independently drive technical topics forward.

• You are willing to take on on-call duties as well as weekend and out-of-hours deployments.

• You speak fluent German and ideally have an ITIL, cloud, or open-source certification.
