About the job
AVY is looking for a sales personality for the German-speaking part of Switzerland: a person who builds long-term customer relationships, credibly represents the wines from Yvorne, and strategically develops our presence in gastronomy, hospitality, sommellerie, and specialist retail.
About AVY
AVY, Artisans Vignerons d’Yvorne, was founded in 1902 and is a traditional winegrowers’ cooperative in the Vaud Chablais region. It vinifies and markets the production of its 120 members, mainly under the renowned Yvorne Chablais AOC appellation.
AVY combines tradition, quality, and modernity. It cultivates and enhances a unique terroir and produces a diverse range of wines: Chasselas, red wines, white specialities, and contemporary creations. The quality of AVY wines is regularly recognised and awarded.
AVY is already present in the German-speaking part of Switzerland and wishes to strategically strengthen its commercial development in this market, especially in gastronomy, hospitality, sommellerie, and specialist retail.
Your Role
Your task is to further develop AVY’s commercial presence in the German-speaking part of Switzerland. You will open new customer relationships, build and maintain existing and new contacts long-term, and strengthen the visibility and distribution of AVY wines in a demanding and dynamic market.
You see yourself as an ambassador for the wines from Yvorne: you can convincingly convey the history, origin, identity, and quality of AVY wines while connecting with the concrete needs of gastronomy, sommellerie, and specialist retail.
This role requires not only a passion for wine but also commercial discipline: acquisition, consistent follow-up, portfolio development, reliable CRM use, and the ability to build trust in the market step by step.
Beyond sales, you will take on an advisory role towards customers. You understand their positioning, propose suitable assortments, support recommendations and resale of the wines, and bring relevant market information back to AVY.
Main Responsibilities
In this role, you will specifically undertake the following tasks:
- Further development of AVY’s commercial presence in the German-speaking part of Switzerland within HORECA, sommellerie, and specialist retail.
- Identification, qualification, and approach of new customers with potential, in line with AVY’s positioning and priorities.
- Building and maintaining long-term relationships with restaurateurs, hoteliers, sommeliers, wine shops, specialist retailers, and other commercial partners.
- Active listening and thorough needs assessment before making an offer.
- Understanding the positioning, needs, and conditions of each customer to propose suitable assortments and solutions.
- Translating the characteristics of a wine into concrete benefits for the customer: wine list, assortment, price positioning, margin, guest experience, house identity, or resale potential.
- Professional and convincing presentation of AVY wines, focusing on origin, history, quality, and commercial relevance.
- Supporting customers in presenting and reselling AVY wines, including tastings, assortment advice, sales arguments, and targeted promotions.
- Reliable commercial follow-up: offers, follow-ups, negotiations, orders, customer information, and next steps.
- Dependable use of CRM and digital tools to document opportunities, customer portfolio, and market information.
- Regular feedback on market observations: customer expectations, consumption trends, competition, prices, objections, and opportunities.
- Close collaboration with the internal team to ensure a professional, coherent, and reliable customer experience.
Your Profile
For this role, we are looking for an independent, structured, and results-oriented personality with a genuine interest in wine, people, and long-term business relationships.
You listen first before selling. You want to understand the customer, their business, their assortment, constraints, and goals. You can build trust, advise credibly, and authentically represent a wine house.
Experience in the wine, beverage, gastronomy, hospitality, or specialist retail environment is a great advantage. Equally important to us are personality, listening skills, reliability, willingness to learn, and the ability to build long-term customer relationships.
Ideally, you have the following profile:
- Solid experience in B2B sales, ideally in the wine, beverage, gastronomy, hospitality, specialist retail, or a related environment.
- Good knowledge of the German-speaking Swiss market and ideally an existing network in HORECA, sommellerie, wine shops, or specialist retail.
- Very good German skills; French skills are necessary to work efficiently with the internal team.
- Enjoyment of acquisition, new customer development, portfolio growth, and long-term customer care.
- Ability to understand a customer’s positioning and propose an offer or assortment suitable to their context.
- Consulting and sales competence: you can support customers in better presenting, recommending, and reselling products.
- Ability to tell the story of a wine, a terroir, and a house without losing sight of the customer’s commercial needs.
- Solid personal organisation and ability to independently manage time, travel, and priorities.
- Resilience, discipline, and perseverance in active market development.
- Reliable use of digital tools, CRM, and modern communication means.
- Entrepreneurial, pragmatic thinking and willingness to take responsibility.
- Positive, constructive, and down-to-earth personality, fitting the cooperative spirit, values, and terroir connection of AVY.
What AVY Offers
- An independent and exciting role with real development potential in the German-speaking part of Switzerland.
- The opportunity to represent a historic winegrowers’ cooperative soon celebrating 125 years of history and known for the quality of its wines.
- An ambassador role for a wine region, a terroir, and a collective of committed winegrowers.
- A diverse range of Vaud wines combining tradition, ambition, and modernity.
- A small, dedicated, passionate, and collaborative team.
- An environment where ideas, market feedback, and structured sales approaches are welcome.
- The chance to help shape the commercial development of a traditional house — authentically, structurally, and future-oriented.
- A meaningful role in the service of the wines from Yvorne and a unique wine-growing heritage.
