The Swiss Library Service Platform (SLSP) – headquartered in Zurich – is a service provider for libraries and operates the national library platform swisscovery together with them, which consolidates scientific information from currently 500 libraries across Switzerland, making it easily accessible and simple to find. In addition, SLSP provides libraries with a shared system platform for managing their collections and handling their library services.

At SLSP, you benefit from flexible working hours, at least 5 weeks of holiday per year, a central workplace near the train station in Zurich, a co-working space in Lausanne, and the possibility of home office (remote work).

To strengthen our Technology Services department, we are looking for a committed individual as Head of IT & Development to start immediately or by arrangement.

Your Role

You lead IT & Development within the Technology Services area and manage the team both professionally and personally. You are responsible for the technical conception and implementation of new solutions.

You are a central technical contact person within SLSP. You specify our technology strategy, evaluate new technologies, and translate them into concrete applications, pilot projects, and productive solutions – especially in AI/GenAI, Cloud, Data, Integration, and Automation. As a technology-savvy leader, you bring a pronounced hands-on mentality. You validate new approaches yourself through prototypes and proofs of concept and critically question technical solution approaches. In doing so, you work closely with internal teams, external service providers, and technology partners.

At the same time, you ensure a stable, secure, and economical IT operation.

Your Tasks

• Technology and Development: You specify the technology strategy, evaluate AI/GenAI, Cloud, Data, Integration, and Automation, and develop new solutions from these. You test new technologies and approaches prototypically, critically question technical solution paths, and derive well-founded technology decisions for SLSP. You take on technical responsibility, lead pilot projects, prototypes, and proofs of concept through to productive implementation, and expand AI/GenAI competencies at SLSP.
• IT Operation and Security: You ensure a stable, secure, and economical IT operation, automate and further develop the IT environment, and ensure lifecycle management. You are responsible for technical aspects of contracts and SLAs, contribute to information and cyber security, and manage external service providers and technology partners.
• Leadership and Management: You lead your team professionally and personally, are responsible for the budget as well as strategically relevant IT projects, and contribute to organisation-wide technology initiatives. In coordination with the Head of Technology Services, you represent IT topics in specialist committees and support strategic technology issues.

How You Convince Us

Professionally, technically and personally

• University degree in computer science, software engineering, business informatics, or a comparable technical field; further training in IT management, architecture, AI/machine learning, or cloud is an advantage
• Several years of experience in developing and implementing technological solutions, especially in AI/GenAI, cloud, integration, or automation, as well as a strong technological curiosity
• Very good understanding of modern IT and software architectures; experience with cloud and SaaS environments, integration and API architectures, as well as API management
• Practical experience in automation and modern development and deployment approaches, as well as in the technical leadership of projects, pilot initiatives, and proofs of concept
• Strong hands-on mentality and enjoyment in evaluating new technologies yourself, implementing them prototypically, and critically questioning technical solution approaches.
• Experience in leading employees or technical service providers; you empower and motivate others, shape change, solve problems, communicate clearly, and act with a willingness to learn, reliability, and entrepreneurial spirit
• Business fluent German or French skills, at least B2 level in the other national language, as well as business fluent English skills
