Role:
Data is only as secure as the architecture that protects it. As a Senior Specialist Enterprise Storage & Backup, you shape exactly this architecture, relying on enterprise platforms such as NetApp and Pure Storage. Your focus is on solutions that scale, perform, and reliably restore in case of emergency. Technical depth and foresight are equally required here.
Responsibilities:
You design scalable architectures for SAN, NAS, and Object Storage and define technical standards and best practices.
For business-critical data, you develop backup, restore, and retention concepts. You consistently align disaster recovery scenarios with the goals for Recovery Point Objective (RPO) and Recovery Time Objective (RTO).
Furthermore, you secure backup data against cyberattacks with immutable, WORM, and air-gap solutions.
You connect storage efficiently to VMware and KVM environments and integrate SAN components, tape libraries, and data centre systems.
In critical incidents, you take technical leadership and trace causes down to protocol and network level.
Additionally, you manage migrations and platform renewals, expand monitoring and capacity planning, and test new technologies in proof of concepts.
Qualifications:
Several years of experience in storage, backup, or infrastructure engineering form your foundation.
You have long-term experience with enterprise storage, ideally with NetApp and/or Pure Storage.
Snapshots, NDMP, SnapLock, S3, and NFS are as familiar to you as provisioning, LUNs, storage pools, and filesystems.
Moreover, you know modern cyber recovery approaches in detail and have experience with tape libraries and long-term archiving.
You understand SAN technologies, multipathing, and redundancy as well as the integration of storage into VMware or KVM.
Furthermore, you keep an overview of performance bottlenecks across all levels, formulate precisely in German, and read English manufacturer documentation with ease.
