familea is a socially responsible association with a 125-year tradition in the Basel area. In over 40 day-care centres, we care for around 3,000 children. We operate children’s and youth homes, the Foster Care Centre, and social and legal counselling for women. Our services strengthen families, children, and women. They promote the compatibility of family and work, contribute to equal opportunities and integration. With over 900 employees - including around 200 trainees and students - we are a recognised and significant professional and training institution in the social sector.
The residential care of familea has 56 places for children and young people aged 5 to 18 years or older, cared for in seven residential groups of 8 places each. They are accompanied, supported, and challenged throughout 365 days in coeducational groups with different age structures. All children and young people attend public schools or a training centre.For one of our student residential groups, which houses psychosocially burdened children and young people between 5 and 15 years old, we are looking immediately or by arrangement for aSocial Pedagogue FH/HF 80%
You are a resilient, open and empathetic; linguistically skilled as well as flexible person with heart and bring a resource- and solution-oriented attitude to fulfil this demanding task. Your positive basic attitude complemented with humour also carries you through crisis situations in everyday life. Furthermore, you are characterised by a sensitive and trustworthy manner, which enables you to access children and young people on an equal footing and to build sustainable relationships with an appropriate proximity-distance balance.
With your expertise, you are able to quickly and effectively establish an efficient working relationship within the helper system and support the children and young people on their path in a participatory process. As an employee, you are jointly responsible with a committed team of 6-7 people for the following tasks:
Area of responsibility:
- Accompanying the children and young people in the residential group, in managing their everyday life, in finding and implementing a perspective, and in crisis management
- Resource- and solution-oriented key worker duties including interdisciplinary collaboration within the client system (and case management).
- Administrative tasks such as writing reports and minutes, written correspondence within the client system, and maintaining group documentation
- Active and appreciative participation in the team and taking responsibility for cross-group collaboration in the house during weekends and holidays as well as in working groups, camps, and leisure activities.
- Motivated involvement in the team during change processes and creative problem solving
- Taking on portfolios and/or cross-group areas of responsibility
Requirements:
- You have a degree as a Social Pedagogue FH/HF * and at least 3 years of professional experience in the residential setting of child and youth welfare
- You have experience in key worker duties and are familiar with the common support systems
- You have completed a practical training course and wish to gain further experience in practical instruction
- You appreciate irregular work assignments and hours (including night and weekend shifts)
- You enjoy participating in camps and implementing creative and sporting projects
- You are characterised by your initiative, independence, and reliability
- You enjoy working with children and young people and have a sense of humour
- High social competence, motivation, and resilience are among your strengths
- You have solid computer skills (MS Office)
- You hold a category B driving licence (advantageous)
