Your Tasks
As a Senior Data Engineer / Data Warehouse Architect, you act as the technical lead for data warehouse engineering and architecture and are the technical sparring partner for the team management in modelling, integration and platform decisions. You combine professional depth in data modelling with technological foresight and shape the foundation for a modern, future-proof data architecture. The focus is on a strong Data Vault 2.0 architecture, high standards in modelling and integration, as well as the technical further development of our platform towards modern target architectures such as Databricks or Snowflake with a perspective on future AI and advanced analytics applications.
- You shape the architecture and technological orientation of our data warehouse and set the guardrails for sustainable technical decisions
- You further develop our Data Vault 2.0 core architecture, thereby creating the basis for reliable, professionally robust and expandable data structures
- You take on professional leadership in complex engineering issues, conduct reviews, establish best practices and ensure that architecture and development standards are effectively implemented within the team
- You define binding standards for modelling, architecture and development and ensure consistency across all DWH and integration layers
- You continuously develop and optimise robust ETL/ELT processes based on Azure Data Factory and SQL
- You ensure data quality, historisation and performance throughout the entire data lifecycle
- You expand the CI/CD pipelines, automate tests and design efficient deployment strategies
- You are the technical contact person for product owners and business units on all data warehouse and integration issues
- You identify technological opportunities early, evaluate modern platforms and derive implementable architectural paths for our existing DWH landscape
- You work closely with BI and reporting teams to provide stable and user-friendly data structures
Our Requirements
- Several years of experience as a Senior Data Engineer, Data Warehouse Architect or in a comparable senior role
- You have proven experience in analysing and solving complex productive DWH/ETL problems and can balance short-term stabilisation, clean architecture and long-term modernisation
- Deep knowledge of Data Vault 2.0 and data-oriented modelling with clean historisation and robust best practices
- Experience with dimensional modelling for reporting layers
- Sound knowledge of relational data modelling and data integration architectures
- Comprehensive Azure experience (Azure Data Factory, SQL Database, Storage, Azure DevOps)
- Experience with or strong interest in modern data platforms such as Databricks and/or Snowflake. Corresponding know-how is a clear plus
- Enjoyment in actively shaping a data platform with a view to future topics such as AI, advanced analytics and modern architectures
- Very good SQL skills and practical experience in complex, productive ETL/ELT pipelines
- You establish engineering standards, conduct code and architecture reviews and ensure high technical quality throughout the entire development and operational cycle
- Architectural thinking with a focus on stability, scalability and future-proofing
- Structured working method, high personal responsibility and excellent communication skills
- Very good German language skills
