About the job
You ensure that production plans become finished machines. TomFit develops and builds the TomBot, an AI-supported power machine, in Switzerland. Engineering, final assembly and testing remain with us. Our supplier network is growing in Switzerland and Eastern Europe. The next step is the transition from small series to significantly higher quantities at our new location in Stettbach. For this, we are looking for a person who independently takes responsibility for technical purchasing and material supply and brings selected operational projects to completion. Your role Your focus is the reliable material supply for our production: the right parts, in the correct revision and quality, at the required time and on economical terms. Additionally, you take on operational projects at the interface between engineering, suppliers, production and logistics. You work directly with the Operations management and receive clear responsibilities and decision-making scope. You do not have to solve every technical problem yourself. But you recognise what needs to be clarified, bring the right people together and ensure that open issues become reliable results. What you take on - Procurement from start to finish. You derive requirements from parts lists, production planning and inventory, request quotes, compare conditions and place orders. You check order confirmations, track deliveries and clarify deviations until completion. This involves mechanical drawing parts, sheet metal and welded assemblies, electromechanical components, electronics and standard parts. - Drawing and revision under control. You ensure that every order is based on the approved drawing and the current revision. If drawing, parts list and offer do not match, you clarify this before ordering. - Building and developing suppliers. You find suitable suppliers in Switzerland and Eastern Europe, negotiate prices, delivery times and conditions and build reliable partnerships. Framework agreements are assessed based on total costs, quantity risk and commitment, not just unit price. - Goods receipt with substance. Together with production and engineering, you ensure that parts are not only counted but checked for dimensions and function. You consistently follow up delivery and quality issues with the supplier. - Actively managing material availability. You recognise early which parts endanger the production plan and initiate countermeasures, such as partial deliveries, alternative sources or a coordinated change in sequence. Critical risks are escalated in good time, with a clear assessment and a proposed solution. - Independently implementing operational projects. Whether supplier change, material provision for a new machine series or equipment for Stettbach: you structure the project, clarify responsibilities, coordinate dependencies and keep deadlines. - Status visible to all. You keep article, supplier and order data up to date in the ERP so that production and engineering can see the status of every order at any time without having to ask. What you bring - You have already taken responsibility for suppliers, a relevant order volume or an entire material or supply topic, ideally in machine, equipment or vehicle construction. - You read technical drawings, understand tolerances and common manufacturing processes and ask questions instead of assuming when placing an order. - You negotiate bindingly and calculate total costs, not just unit price. - You make status and problems visible early. Transparency is part of your work. - You combine speed with care and enjoy working hands-on in a company that is currently building up. - You speak fluent German and good English. - You work confidently with ERP and Excel. - Ideally, you have already worked with AI tools and are not afraid to write prompts or adjust simple code. We do not require a specific number of years of professional experience or a senior title. What matters is the responsibility you have already taken and how you solve problems. AI and automation are part of our daily work Our ERP, CAD and parts list data are interconnected. Internal tools and AI agents already support order processing and delivery status monitoring. So you do not start with a blank sheet. You actively work with it: you write and improve prompts, adjust agents and automate recurring processes, if necessary also with simple scripts. Checking information and responsibility for decisions remain with you. How we recognise your success Production plans with reliable material dates. Critical missing parts are identified early and actively addressed. Orders are based on the correct revision. Order status and next steps are visible to all. Your projects progress without anyone having to ask continuously. What to expect from us - A young team building the TomBot and driving the next production step forward together. - A central area in a growing hardware company that you help build. You see directly what your work achieves: parts arrive, assemblies are mounted, machines go into operation. - Short distances, direct decisions and real scope for design with suppliers, processes and automation. - A workload of 80–100%, on site in Stettbach, close to the product and the team. The workplace is 3 minutes from the station. Application: Show us how you work Send us your CV and a short motivation letter via the application function on jobs.ch. Also describe in five to ten sentences a situation in which you solved a supply bottleneck, organised procurement or independently implemented an operational project: what was the initial situation, what did you personally do, and what was the result? If you used AI or automation, tell us about that too. You want to take responsibility, reliably bring things to completion and help build our production? We look forward to getting to know you.
