Our client is a traditional, owner-managed Swiss SME in the technical/trade sector (automotive, commercial vehicles, agricultural machinery or mechanical engineering). To ensure the long-term continuation of the legacy, we are looking for an entrepreneurial leader with the clear goal of succeeding the current owner.
Overall objective of the position: In the first phase, you will take over the operational, technical and personnel management of the entire workshop. You will optimise processes, ensure capacity utilisation and lead the team noticeably. Gradually, you will be introduced to the overall business management.
Your clear goal: Promotion to Managing Director and gradual takeover of the entire business within the framework of a structured succession plan.
Scope of duties:
Phase 1: Operational workshop management (focus on the present) Technical and personnel management, deployment planning and motivation of the workshop team as well as training of apprentices Ensuring timely, efficient and high-quality handling of all service, repair and maintenance work Competent support and advice to demanding customers on complex technical issues Responsibility for compliance with occupational safety and environmental regulations as well as modernisation of the workshop infrastructure
Phase 2: Strategic development & succession (focus on the future) Management: Gradual assumption of business management tasks (finance, budgeting, marketing/sales) Business takeover: Close, trusting exchange with the current owner for the strategic and financial preparation of the company succession.
What you should bring: Basic education: Technical basic training in the craft or mechanical field (e.g. automotive mechatronics technician, agricultural machinery mechanic, construction machinery mechanic or polymechanic) Further education: Successfully completed further training at the level of Advanced Federal Diploma (HFP) or professional certificate (e.g. automotive diagnostician, workshop coordinator, master craftsman) or a degree as a technical business administrator/operations manager Professional experience: Several years of solid professional experience in a workshop as well as proven leadership experience Entrepreneurial gene: You bring basic business knowledge (or the willingness to acquire it) and have the genuine desire to be your own boss. Language skills: German as a mother tongue or business fluent in spoken and written form (important for leadership and regional customer contact). Soft skills & entrepreneurial personality: As a doer, you get stuck in yourself, lead by example and possess strong assertiveness. You lead your team at eye level, promote talents and create a motivating working atmosphere. You have the maturity and the financial/entrepreneurial interest to take on long-term responsibility for an SME and its employees.
