Your tasks:

As a Professor for Spatial Data Science and Artificial Intelligence, you strengthen the Institute of Geomatics in a strategically central thematic area. The organisation of the institute is based on collaboration, personal responsibility and active participation. As part of the team, you develop a visible, application-oriented profile in research and teaching. You will particularly shape the following areas:

Establishment and further development of the department "Spatial Data Science and Artificial Intelligence" at the interface of Geomatics, Computer Science and Data Science
Development of methodological foundations in programming, geostatistics as well as machine learning and deep learning and their application to geomatics questions
Acquisition, management and implementation of third-party funded projects (e.g. Innosuisse, SNSF, EU)
Building and leading your own research group as well as active publication activity
Designing and conducting courses at bachelor, master and continuing education levels
Further development of the curriculum as well as linking research and teaching
Shaping innovative teaching formats (e.g. project-based and interdisciplinary learning)
Collaboration with adjacent departments such as geosensing, photogrammetry and geovisualisation
Participation in the strategic further development of the institute as well as taking on leadership tasks

Your profile:

We are looking for a committed, research-strong personality with a pronounced implementation orientation and joy in interdisciplinary collaboration. You have sound knowledge in Spatial Data Science and Artificial Intelligence and bring experience in research, teaching and practice. Ideally complemented by:

University degree with a doctorate or similar further education in a relevant field
Proven success in acquiring and managing research and/or service projects
Teaching experience as well as higher education didactic qualification or willingness to acquire this in the first years of employment
Solid national and international network in geomatics (industry, administration and/or research)
Integrative personality with high social competence and ability to cooperate
Very good German and English skills for secure communication in teaching, research and collaboration
