The Operations and Maintenance division within the Civil Engineering Office is responsible for the upkeep and maintenance as well as the care and cleanliness of public roadways, path networks, green spaces, cemeteries, and sewer systems. The installation of temporary or permanent signage and markings in public areas also falls within its remit. Great importance is placed on functionality and safety.We are looking for a
Head of Operations and Maintenance (80 - 100 %)
from 1 February 2027 or by arrangement.Your tasks:
- You lead 6 teams (construction, sewer and watercourse maintenance, cemetery maintenance, green space maintenance, sports facility maintenance, street cleaning, traffic engineering) with 60 specialists. Together, you ensure solution-oriented, stable results, new impulses, and cross-departmental collaboration.
- Our teams organise themselves independently and are responsible for quality. You set the direction, deploy resources purposefully, and ensure short communication paths, even across departmental boundaries.
- As a member of the management team, you strategically develop maintenance with the aim of making it innovative, efficient, and sustainable.
- You ensure the smooth handling of daily business, constructively demand performance, and foster future-oriented innovation. In addition, you take on the role of the area safety officer (BESIBE) in an additional capacity.
- You represent the Civil Engineering Office both personally and in writing towards customers and political stakeholders.
You bring with you:
- You lead with insight into people and clear goals. You listen, are fair and reliable, recognise freedom of action, and make use of it.
- Training as a construction foreman or technician HF or comparable qualification, ideally with roots in horticulture or the construction industry.
- Extensive experience in the operation and maintenance of green spaces, roads, or wastewater systems. Business administration and modern corporate management are not just theory for you.
