About the job
Leitner AG has developed in recent years into one of the strongest suppliers of ready-to-sell surgical and orthopaedic instruments for medical technology. Our manufactured products are used worldwide in the most demanding surgical fields. We are looking for a reliable, open, and results-oriented personality who wants to unfold their skills and ideas in medical technology.
Deputy Head of Process Engineering (m/f/d) 100%
You understand manufacturing. You think economically. And you find solutions – for production as well as for our customers.
As Deputy Head of Process Engineering, you are a central hub between engineering, production, and sales. You ensure that customer requirements are transformed into robust, economical, and production-ready solutions.
In doing so, you take responsibility in day-to-day business, independently drive technical topics forward, and support the Head of Process Engineering in the operational coordination of the department.
Your mission
You bring together engineering, economic efficiency, and customer needs.
You ensure that operation and inspection plans are practical, changes are implemented cleanly, and orders are technically complete and delivered to production on time.
At the same time, you are an important interface to sales: you support technical customer enquiries, independently prepare calculations, and ensure that our customers receive a quick, competent, and solution-oriented response.
In short: you think along, decide, and bring things to completion.
What you will achieve with us
Sharpening processes: You create, review, and optimise operation and inspection plans – realistically, economically, and close to production. Making orders production-ready: You accompany initial, new, and repeat orders and ensure smooth production transfer together with the interfaces. Implementing changes cleanly: You assess technical changes, recognise their impacts, and ensure that necessary adjustments are fully and timely implemented. Calculating & thinking economically: You evaluate manufacturing processes, independently determine manufacturing costs, and prepare well-founded calculations as a basis for offers and decisions. Interface to sales: You work closely with sales and contribute your technical know-how to customer enquiries, feasibility studies, and offers. Acting customer-oriented: You respond quickly, reliably, and solution-oriented to our customers’ technical questions. You understand the concern, clarify the technical possibilities, and ensure a competent answer. Solving problems: You recognise bottlenecks, technical uncertainties, or missing prerequisites early and actively drive their resolution. Shaping projects: You support technical projects, feasibility studies, manufacturing concepts, and the clarification of customer requirements. Better instead of "we've always done it this way": You question existing processes and implement improvements that really work in everyday life. Taking responsibility: You support the Head of Process Engineering in operational coordination and represent them in defined tasks and meetings during their absence.
What you bring
You have a technical basic education EFZ in machining and know the reality of a production environment.
Ideally, you have further training in an industrial environment – for example as a technician HF, process specialist, or technical business administrator – and bring experience from production and/or work preparation.
Experience in medical technology is a plus: You know the high demands on quality, documentation, and process reliability – or have already worked in a similarly demanding, regulated production environment.
You do not only have to be technically strong. We are looking for someone who understands the big picture: You think technically and economically. You can assess manufacturing costs and independently prepare calculations. You enjoy communicating professionally with customers and internal interfaces. You respond quickly, reliably, and customer-friendly. You work in a structured way, set priorities, and stay on topics. And you have the ambition not just to complete tasks, but to do them better. You are proficient in German and English.
Why this position?
Because you are not limited to a single specialist area here.
You move between customer, sales, process engineering, and production and accompany topics from enquiry and calculation to successful implementation in manufacturing.
You are close to technical decisions, have direct influence on processes and economic efficiency, and at the same time take responsibility as Deputy Head of Process Engineering.
Understand technology. Think economically. Convince customers. Improve processes.
Does that sound like you? Then we would like to get to know you.
